It’s the 21st century and our attention spans have been conditioned to crave immediate gratification.

If your audience is going to sit there for 45 minutes, you better satisfy that attention span in the first 60 seconds or you’ll lose them to “I wonder what’s for lunch?”

In this lesson, we’re going to cover how to write an attention-grabbing introduction that will immediately engage your audience on both an intellectual and emotional level. With the right amount of effort and some creative brainstorming sessions, you can create an exciting, compelling, or inspirational hook that really reels your crowd into the core message of your presentation.

Remember, begin with a greeting to establish that much-needed connection with your audience. Really explore those different approaches we talked about to create that punchy hook and experiment to see which one is the best fit for your next speech.

Whichever method you pick, make sure it’s relevant to the persona of your audience and presents your topic in an interesting light.
